Biography

Hi! I'm Thomas Lu, a Ph.D. student in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of California, Davis, and earned my master’s degree from Duke University. My academic background has shaped my curiosity about how computational approaches and design thinking can be used to understand and improve complex systems across different fields of engineering.
At Notre Dame, I aim to develop a deeper understanding of engineering processes through simulation, analysis, and creative problem-solving. I enjoy exploring how different disciplines intersect and how theory can be translated into meaningful real-world applications.
Outside of research, I love traveling and discovering new places and cultures. I’m also a huge fan of Formula 1 racing — I enjoy following the technical innovations behind the sport as much as the competition itself.
